Glenmont Heating and Air Conditioning uses Advanced Geothermal Technology for our geothermal customer needs. There are many benefits to having a geothermal heating and cooling system, and lower energy costs are one of them.
Geothermal Units currently in use have already made a significant impact. Essentially, the same impact as: - Removing 1.3 million cars from the road - Planting 385 million trees - Reducing the U.S. dependence on foreign crude oil by 21.5 million barrels per year
A geothermal system makes use of energy that already exists, and does not have to be moved for you to use it. The ground absorbs almost half the energy that reaches the Earth from the sun everyday, which makes it a renewable energy, without any human intervention. Although the surface temperature of the ground changes with the days and seasons, the ground temperature 15 feet below the surface stays a fairly consistent temperature. Geothermal technology taps into that layer and uses the energy below the surface to help heat and cool your home.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) determined that geothermal energy has the lowest environmental impact of all heating systems. Geothermal energy does not have to be shipped, moved or stored, which helped in this determination. Geothermal systems use less energy, and are very cost efficient.
