Why in the world should I have my Air Conditioner Maintenanced?
Well, no need to get snippy about it! 🙂 Seriously, your air conditioner works very hard to keep you comfortable. The least you can do is show it a little love to help it do that!
Please know that a tuned system runs more efficiently and effectively – which saves you energy dollars and avoids the buildup of bad indoor air. Plus, your system stays in good shape for years to come, saving you thousands in premature replacement. (And the #1 reason for premature replacement? Dirt. True.)
Like servicing your car at regular intervals, maintaining your home comfort system is one of the best ways to preserve your investment in your home, plus conserving energy and improving efficiency. While you might not pop the hood and tell your family and friends, “Listen to that baby hum,” you can sure bet they’ll appreciate the comfort it provides.
In fact, our air conditioners are running pretty heavily during the summer. They’re enduring lots of strain and extra work to keep up. A well-maintained system is the key to capping energy costs and preventing inconvenient breakdowns.
At Glenmont, now in our 28th year in business, our customers know there’s one thing that should be a priority for their home comfort. Tune-ups save operating dollars, postpone replacement dollars and keep you comfortable at the same time. Plus, it’s not that complicated. Basically, a licensed professional will:
- Clean evaporator and condenser coils, as needed, and straighten bent fins.
- Check all electrical components and controls.
- Oil motor and shaft bearings.
- Check the condenser.
- Examine fan belts and replace if frayed or worn.
- Calibrate the thermostat.
- Check to see if the system is properly charged with refrigerant and that there are no leaks.
- Check filters. (Filters should be replaced monthly.)
Why a professional? Well, the risk of electrical shock and the potential for equipment malfunction mean this isn’t a summer do-it-yourself project. But one of our techs can handle it for you in a very short time. (If you had a spring maintenance on your air conditioner from Glenmont, you should be in good shape for the summer, but let us know if you have any problems.)
